We bought the X in 2018 and the stock shortly thereafter, adding over the years making TSLA our largest public equities position. When Tesla unveiled the Cybertruck November 2019, I was blown away and immediately bought two. We now have 7 on reservations, to be at front of the long (700,000+) waiting list, as we are sure lucky friends & family will want them too. We ordered two Cyberlandr campers (costing as much as the Cybertrucks) because they are great designs and to support the ecosystem. Earlier this year, we bought the Y, the best production car in the world. The X has danced through 58,904 km of harsh Canadian winters and the Y has given me 42,648 km of blissful driving across North America for work (real estate trips) and fun, challenging the no-fly no-travel pandemic blues. And no, neither car has had any major quality or maintenance issues.
We simply adore these cars and the stock ain’t bad either 😉
Love ‘em Teslas
For the past two years, we tried and failed three times to invest in SpaceX (still a private company). We are proud to finally become SpaceX shareholders this month. If we have the opportunity, we’d support Elon’s Neuralink, Boring Company and whatever new “crazy” venture he dreams up.
To Mars, We Go
We are hooked on Elon for three reasons.
First, the products are great. Do you remember the first time you ordered from Amazon and got hooked? Or for the Chinese, the first time Wechat messaging came out and it was simply easier, more fun to use? How about your first iPhone? Same with the Teslas. There’s just no comparison, they are iPhones, supercomputers, robots-on-wheels, lovingly made with amazing detail and fun.
My fondest memory with my Teslas is with my parents, shortly before mom passed from covid. After an exhilarating drive that gave them much need excitement, my engineer dad admired the gull wings, but most of all, I had not seen bigger smiles for many years than when the X busted out the moves with the Tesla Dance, and mom joined in to boogie:
Mom’s Dance with X
Priceless.

Second, we love everything about Elon – his impossible missions: be the biggest auto/energy maker in the world, colonize Mars, dig tunnels to ease transport, cure diseases via neural computers. We admire his First Principles approach to solving problems, never-say-no attitude and his incredible work ethic. He inspires us to want him to succeed and to support his team and efforts, so we do.
Sneaking into the Austin Gigafactory
Last, not least, his ventures are great long-term investments. The guy is a genius and will be remembered as the greatest inventor and businessman in history. He will be by far the richest man on the planet, though we know money is not his motivation.
