8 million more Americans fall into poverty

December 19, 2020

US poverty jumps the most in 60 years, in this depressing story.  While China is making great strides to eliminate poverty, “rich” North America is struggling with USA’s poverty rate jumping to 11.7% in November to 9.6% in June.   Even prior to COVID-19, more than half of Americans and Canadians were living paycheck to paycheck.

The $1200 stimulus checks did help, but poverty rose as federal aid fell away – of course.

Hand outs are not sustainable.
